Gerald Geen inspecting spring 2020 Sweetheart cherry plantings at the Thompson River Farm
Jealous Fruits’ Thompson River Farm is located 30km east of Kamloops, British Columbia, along it's namesake river. The Thompson Valley is the next valley northeast of the Okanagan Valley, in the BC interior dry belt. Maturity dates are expected to be in a similar time frame to company orchards in the north Okanagan.
In 2019, 60 acres were planted, followed by 135 acres this past spring. Planting will be complete in 2021 with an additional 70 acres, bringing the total acres up to 265.
The Thompson River Farm features a range of varieties from Suite Note, Skeena, Lapin, Rainier, Regina, Sweetheart, and Staccato right up to Sovereign.
First commercial production from this farm will be in 2021.
